This economy has left many parents in a difficult situation. Pro Se University can help. Our webinars, seminars, and support services will help you through the confusing process of adjusting or modifying your child support if you cannot afford an attorney.
Are you receiving too little child support? If you are the custodial parent and your child support order is outdated or if you have suffered a job loss, you can ask the court to increase your child support.
Are you paying too much child support? If you are the non-custodial parent and you have lost your job or had your hours cut, you can ask the court to lower your child support.
Do you need help with daycare or uninsured medical expenses? These expenses can add up to hundreds of dollars each month. Both parents are responsible for these expenses. If your support order does not address these costs or if you are not receiving the proper amount, you can ask the court to add or increase these payments.
Are you still paying daycare expenses for a child no longer in daycare? If so, you can have the court remove these expenses from your support order.
Does your child need help paying for college? Most of us will need education beyond high school to survive. If your child is heading toward college or other post-high school training, you can ask the court to order the other parent to help pay these costs.
These are just a few of the possible reasons that you might need to adjust your child support payment or modify your child support order. There are many more, and if you feel that you have a good reason to make a change, contact Pro Se University PS for help.
Pro Se legal representation is when a person acts as his or her own lawyer in a court proceeding. Every day we see people in court representing themselves, and this number is growing due to our current economic climate. Unfortunately, those people make mistakes- not because they are not smart, but because the process is complex and confusing. We have 29 combined years of experience in the King County court system.
